Established in 1868, Reynolds Township is one of twenty townships in Montcalm County, situated within the Montcalm Panhandle. Spanning thirty-six square miles, its geography includes the Village of Howard City in the southeast corner. Located between Grand Rapids and Big Rapids, the township offers convenient access to US-131, M-46, and M-82. Over the last forty years, our population has grown to 5,687 residents, with 1,835 living within the village limits. Our community is defined by its natural beauty, featuring the Manistee National Forest and several designated trout streams like Little Muskegon and Tamarack Creeks. Residents and visitors enjoy the Fred Meijer White Pine Trail for hiking and biking. Local services include a Montcalm County Sheriff substation, a premier fire department, and the Tri-County Area School District. Howard City's renovated Main Street reflects its heritage as a former lumber hub, now hosting vibrant festivals and retail shops.
